    Dermatopathology [Referral]

    Test Code
    8175
    $115.00

    About this Test

Histologic evaluation of skin biopsy specimens.

Beginning January 1, 2024, the Dermatopathology Service (DSS) at the Texas A&M University COllege of Veterinary Medicine no longer requires samples to be sent through the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL). Previously, TVMDL received skin biopsy samples and sent them to the Dermatopathology Service at the Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine to be read by their dermatopathologists. This change removes TVMDL as an intermediary and allows the Dermatopathology team to communicate and work directly with their clients.

Going forward, TVMDL will continue to work with the Dermatopathology Services at the School of Veterinary Medicine as a referral laboratory. Effective February 1, samples shipped to TVMDL College Station intended for the Dermatopathology Service will incur a fee for accessioning, handling, processing, and delivery to the School of Veterinary Medicine in addition to an updated testing fee from the Dermatopathology Lab. For additional information and the appropriate submission form, please access https://vetmed.tamu.edu/dermatopathology-lab/.”

For faster turnaround and to avoid additional charges, dermatopathology biopsy samples should now be shipped to: TAMU CVM VTPB-4467 | Dermatopathology Specialty Service | College Station, TX 77843
