Parathyroid Hormone Related Protein [Referral]

Description

Referral tests are not performed at TVMDL; a processing and shipping fee will apply.

Due to shipping delays for reagents, this test is temporarily unavailable. Samples submitted will be kept frozen pending receipt of reagents. 

Measurement of parathyroid hormone related protein (PTHrp) to aid in the diagnosis of hypercalcemia due to malignancy. Note that a negative PTHrP result does not rule out malignancy as a cause of hypercalcemia.

Sampling Requirements

Freeze sample prior to shipping. Avoid hemolysis and lipemia. Hemolyzed samples will not be tested by referral laboratory.

Packing Instructions

Label all samples. Ship overnight on cold packs or dry ice so sample arrives frozen.

This test is performed at the Michigan State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (MSUVDL) in Lansing, MI. Prices listed for tests performed outside TVMDL may not include referral lab accession fees and are subject to change without notice. A processing and shipping fee is added to all referral tests.
