A member of the Texas A&M University System, TVMDL is composed of two full-service laboratories in College Station and Canyon, and poultry laboratories in Center and Gonzales. With its strategically located laboratories, TVMDL is uniquely positioned to serve the animal industries of Texas.

TVMDL locations are open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The laboratories are closed for normal business on Saturday and Sunday, and on federal holidays as listed below:
- Labor Day: Monday, September 5, 2022
- Thanksgiving: Thursday, 24, 2022
- Memorial Day: Monday, May 29, 2023
- Independence Day: Tuesday, July 4, 2023
