Determination of the genetic type of canine parvovirus (2a, 2b, or 2c).
Specimen
Virus isolate, tissue sample, or fecal sample.
Detection of antibodies to both canine parvovirus (CPV) and canine distemper (CDV) virus by ELISA. This assay is utilized to screen for vaccination status only.

Measurement of WBC, RBC, HGB, HCT, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, reticulocytes, PLT, PCT, MPV. Microscopic blood smear review for WBC differential, cellular morphology, and hemoparasites.
1 mL EDTA whole blood and 1-2 air dried slides.
Measurement of total protein, albumin, AG ratio, globulin, calcium, phosphorus, glucose, BUN, creatinine, total bilirubin, ALKP, AST, ALT, GGT, GLDH (canine only), amylase, cholesterol, sodium, potassium, and chloride by automated analyzer.
0.5 mL serum or lithium heparin plasma
Measurement of total cholesterol by automated analyzer.
Measurement of creatine kinase by automated analyzer.
Detection of Clostridium difficile toxins A and B by ELISA.
2 g feces
Measurement of cobalamin (vitamin B12) by chemiluminescence.
