Drug Screen – Performance Animals (LC/MS)

Detection of prohibited substances and permissible therapeutic drugs in livestock show or competition mammalian and avian species using liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry.

Quantitation of a positive sample is available for an additional fee. 

This test is not available for horses intended for racing, whether in training or competition.

Specimen

One or more of the following: 

  • 20 mL urine
  • 5 g feces
  • 10 mL serum
Sampling Requirements

Each sample must be labeled with a number and a species only. Do not include exhibitor names on the sample or the paperwork. Sample containers must be secured with evidence/tamper tape. Place evidence tape over the lid, not around the lid, taking care to not conceal the sample ID.

Collection Container

Serum: remove from red cells and place in an additive free container. 

Urine or feces: sealed, leak-proof container.

All samples must be sealed with security tape to maintain chain of custody.

Packing Instructions

Label all samples. Ship overnight on cold packs.

Special Instructions

Quantitation of a positive sample can be performed for an additional $75.50. Confirmation testing for ractopamine will result in an additional $27.00 fee.
