Urolith Composition (FTIR)
| Description | Determination of the chemical composition of uroliths by fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. | ||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Code | 1071 | ||||||
| Section | Analytical Chemistry | ||||||
| Species | Bovine, Camelid, Canine, Caprine, Cervid, Equine, Exotic, Feline, Ovine, Porcine | ||||||
| Specimen | Clean, dry uroliths | ||||||
| Sampling Requirements | Do not submit uroliths in formalin or saline. Rinse uroliths with water to remove any blood or debris, then allow them to fully air-dry before placing into a sealed container. Submitting dry uroliths improves testing accuracy and shortens turnaround time. | ||||||
| Collection Container | Sealed, leak-proof plastic bag or container, or glass tube. | ||||||
| Packing Instructions | None. | ||||||
| Special Instructions | The testing schedule reflects days that extractions are initiated. Samples must be received in the testing section by 3:30 pm the day prior to the scheduled test day, otherwise samples will be held until the next scheduled test day. Turnaround time represents the estimated number of business days needed for complete extraction, sample preparation, instrument analysis, quality review, and data interpretation. | ||||||
