This test does not include detection of acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), salicylic acid, or salicylates. For these drugs, please also request Drug Screen – NSAIDs (1029).
Requests for specific compounds may, at the discretion of the analytical chemists, be directed to a more targeted extraction / analytical method (e.g., Drug Screen – Equine Pre-Purchase) to improve detection and processing.

| Special Instructions | Some compounds identified with this test may require the purchase of a reference standard for confirmation. TVMDL will cover the cost of reference standards up to $20.00. For reference standards exceeding $20.00, the submitter will be contacted before confirmatory testing is performed and before additional costs are incurred.
The testing schedule reflects days that extractions are initiated. Samples must be received in the testing section by 3:30 pm the day prior to the scheduled test day, otherwise samples will be held until the next scheduled test day. Turnaround time represents the estimated number of business days needed for complete extraction, sample preparation, instrument analysis, quality review, and data interpretation.
Samples deemed suspicious from initial screening will be subject to confirmatory testing. Turnaround time for confirmation can vary and may extend to several weeks depending on the availability of reference standards through approved vendors, the complexity of required analytical and extraction methods, and applicable safety or regulatory considerations. In some cases, consultation may be required prior to proceeding with confirmation, and confirmation testing may be delayed or declined based on these factors.

Quantitation of a positive sample can be performed for an additional fee and may extend turnaround times.
