Actinobacillus pleuropneumonia (CF) [Referral]

Detection of antibodies to Actinobacillus pleuropneumonia, the causative agent of porcine pleuropneumonia, by complement fixation. This test identifies types 1, 5, and 7 but does not differentiate.

2 mL serum

Collect serum from clotted blood in a non-additive tube (e.g. plain red top or serum separator). When possible, transfer clear serum off the clot into a new tube. Excessively hemolyzed samples are not acceptable for this test.

Glass or plastic tube with no anticoagulant additives.

Label all samples. Ship overnight on cold packs.

This test is performed at the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in Ames, IA.
