Strychnine (LC/MS)

Qualitative detection of strychnine using liquid chromatography – tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). 

One or more of the following: 

• 5 mL serum
• 5 mL urine
• 5 g GI content
• 5 g vomitus
• 5 g bait

None

Serum: glass or plastic tube with no anticoagulant additives.

Other sample types: sealed, leak-proof plastic bag or container. 

Label all samples. Ship overnight on cold packs.

This is a qualitative test. Estimated concentrations will be provided for positive samples.  

Samples must be received in the testing lab / location by 3:30 p.m., otherwise samples will be held until the next scheduled test day.
