Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (rtPCR)

Detection of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis, the causative agent of Johne’s disease, by real time PCR. TVMDL provides an option to pool up to three samples if pooling is indicated on the submission form. Pooling will add an additional $2.25 per sample.

Sampling Requirements

Collection Container

Sealed, leak-proof plastic bag or container.

Packing Instructions

Label all samples. Ship overnight on cold packs in an insulated container.

Special Instructions

TVMDL is unable to perform this test at this time.  During this time, samples for Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (rtPCR) will be forwarded daily to the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in Ames, IA at no additional charge to the client. Results are expected within 1-2 business days after delivery to ISUVDL. TVMDL provides an option to pool up to three samples if pooling is indicated on the submission form. Pooling will add an additional $2.25 per sample.
