Sampling Requirements | Samples collected in heparin are not appropriate for testing. Fresh liver can be tested, but should be interpreted with caution. If possible, submit a serum sample in addition to the liver sample. Place in a few drops of sterile saline with the sample to keep it moist. A negative result on a small tissue sample alone should be interpreted with caution. |
Collection Container | Serum: red top tube or screw cap microcentrifuge tube. Samples collected in heparin are not appropriate for testing. EDTA whole blood: purple top EDTA blood collection tube. Liver: leak proof, unbreakable container. Place in a few drops of sterile saline with the sample to keep it moist. |
Packing Instructions | Label all samples. Ship overnight on cold packs. |
