One or more of the following: 

  • frozen rumen contents
  • frozen tied off stomach (small animal)
Sampling Requirements

Freeze rumen content or tied off stomach (small animal) immediately upon collection and ship to arrive frozen. Effective January 2023, TVMDL will no longer perform this test on hay or forage samples.  Hay samples (baled hay) should be sent directly to Servi-Tech Laboratories. 

Collection Container

Sealed, leak-proof plastic container or bag. 

Packing Instructions

Rumen content must arrive frozen.

Special Instructions

This is a time sensitive test due to the volatility of cyanide. Contact the lab if uncertain of shipping and sampling instructions.
