Cortisol – Low Dose Dexamethasone Suppression Profile – Small Animal (ChL)

Measurement of cortisol at baseline, 4 hour post-, and 8 hour post-dexamethasone injection. Test performed by chemiluminescence.

0.5 mL serum

Recommended testing protocol:

1. Collect pre-dexamethasone blood sample
2. Administer dexamethasone at 0.01 mg/kg IV for canines and 0.10 mg/kg IV for felines, note time
3. Collect post-dexamethasone blood samples at 4-hours and 8-hours after administration of dexamethasone
4. Avoid hemolysis

Follow additional instructions for processing and shipping. 

Remove from red cells and place sample in an additive free transport tube.

Label all samples. Ship overnight on cold packs.
