The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) annually presents the Director’s Excellence Award to individuals who embody the agency’s mission. Each year, TVMDL employees nominate peers they believe exemplify excellence through testing services, quality assurance, technological advances, and overall dedication to TVMDL.
TVMDL is pleased to announce Elianna Cubero as a 2020 recipient of the Director’s Excellence Award in the student category.
Cubero is a student worker in the receiving department at the College Station laboratory. Even with a heavily loaded class schedule, Cubero’s efforts rival that of full-time employees.
Most recently, Cubero is commended for her service during the COVID-19 pandemic. Early in the pandemic, TVMDL implemented a skeleton staffing plan. During this time, Cubero enhanced her skillset and learned new responsibilities in the section. Her initiative proved to be vital in ensuring service was not interrupted and client communications didn’t waiver.
Cubero is often praised for her maturity and dedication to TVMDL. In a section with multiple stressors and an average daily caseload of 600 submissions, Cubero handles all tasks with professionalism and grace.
“Elianna is the type of student worker you dream to have in your section,” Diagnostic Services Assistant Section Head Holley Ernst said. “She is mature, responsible, and has a great attitude. Despite being a full-time student, she remains a dedicated and reliable member of our receiving team. Our section has been fortunate to have several outstanding student workers over the years and Elianna is no exception.”
Please join TVMDL in congratulating this year’s Director’s Excellence Award recipients.
