Members of the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory’s (TVMDL) pathology and molecular diagnostics sections recently collaborated on an article with members from Texas A&M University’s Departments of Veterinary Pathobiology and Veterinary Integrative Biosciences. The article, published in Science Direct, covers a recent case of Trypanosoma cruzi Genotype I and Toxoplasma gondii co-infection presented in a red-necked wallaby. This case is unique in that it may represent the first instance of these two organisms simultaneously presented, as well as the first record of naturally occurring infection T. cruzi genotype I infection in macropodids.
