The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) is pleased to announce the addition of Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) to its testing catalog. AMH concentrations aid in the classification of reproductive status of animals. At this time, testing is limited to dogs; however, further validation projects are planned for cats and horses.
AMH is a protein hormone produced by sertoli cells and granulosa cells in the testes and ovaries, respectively. Therefore, AMH is diagnostically useful in characterizing spay/neuter status, ovarian remnant syndrome, cryptorchidism, etc.
AMH results are reported as numerical values and are accompanied by interpretive comments. Additionally, TVMDL professionals are always available to assist in interpretation and case discussion.
