Each year, National Animal Poison Prevention Week is observed the third week of March. This week is used to demonstrate safety practices and mitigation strategies to prevent pets from accidentally being exposed to potentially toxic sources. Although the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) offers several tests to determine if an animal has ingested or been exposed to a toxic substance, the best strategy is for pets to never have the chance to encounter toxic sources.
