January 13, 2021 by Mallory Pfeifer

The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) annually presents the Director’s Excellence Award to individuals who embody the agency’s mission. Each year, TVMDL employees nominate peers they believe exemplify excellence through testing services, quality assurance, technological advances, and overall dedication to TVMDL.

TVMDL is pleased to announce Keli Gillis as a 2020 recipient of the Director’s Excellence Award in the administrative category.

Gillis serves as a customer service associate at the agency’s Canyon laboratory. Over the two years she has been with the agency, Gillis has developed a reputation of excellence. She is noted by her coworkers as being a hardworking, cheerful, and knowledgeable part of the client services team.

Among other contributions, Gillis is praised for establishing new processes in the receiving section. Her efforts have led to more organization during sample transfers to other laboratories.

In addition to her client service duties, Gillis has charged herself with cross training in other sections and elevated herself to a point of contact for sample distribution within the laboratory.

“From her first day on the job, it was clear that Keli was an extremely hard worker and she quickly became someone that I could absolutely depend on in the section,” Stephanie Merrell, assistant program director for administration, said. “She has a passion for learning new things in the lab and frequently looks for ways to further her career here at TVMDL.”

Please join TVMDL in congratulating this year’s Director’s Excellence Award recipients.
