The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) is pleased to announce the addition of Dirofilaria immitis Antigen – Pre and Post Heat Treatment Panel (ELISA) to the test catalog.
This panel includes a routine Dirofilaria immitis Antigen (ELISA), in addition to the heat-treatment test. By performing both tests concurrently, practitioners may receive a more comprehensive diagnostic evaluation. According to the American Heartworm Society, the heat-treated procedure is recommended on cases where adult heartworms are strongly suspected, but the patient tests negative on a on conventional antigen test, or in cases where there are incongruent test results.
