Starting September 25, the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) will discontinue the Bartonella heneslae IFA.
Requests for this test have remained consistently low since last year. In addition, supplies needed to perform the test have become limited.
As an alternative, the North Carolina State University – Vector Borne Disease Diagnostic Lab offers both IFA and PCR panels for various Bartonella species (including B. henselae).
For more information about antibody testing at TVMDL, visit tvmdl.tamu.edu or call one of the agency’s full-service laboratories in College Station or Canyon.
