As of April 1, 2020, the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) will no longer offer Canine Distemper Virus (FA) testing on conjunctival scrapings. TVMDL recommends the Canine Distemper Virus (rtPCR) as an alternative test. The rtPCR test is more sensitive, specific, and less subjective and can be performed on a variety of specimens including swabs, urine, or tissue.
