The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) is pleased to announce the addition of three tests that can assist poultry clients.
Avian metapneumovirus (aMPV) can cause respiratory disease and reproductive disorders in poultry. Clinical signs and lesions do not allow a definitive diagnosis of aMPV infection. Molecular tests are commonly used to identify infected birds and flocks. Avian metapneumovirus types A and B breaks have been identified across the United States during the first quarter of 2024, including Texas.
To support rapid and reliable diagnostics of aMPV infection, TVMDL now offers real-time RT-PCR tests for all three aMPV types (A, B, and C) at the College Station laboratory. The three tests are also offered as a panel.
