Testing Supply Vendors

Authorized Testers are required to purchase the supplies needed to perform testing. TVMDL does not endorse any of the vendors listed on this page. This list is composed of vendors Authorized Testers frequently use to purchase supplies.

Minimum Supplies Needed

At a minimum, Authorized Testers must have:

  • Pullorum plate antigen
    • This antigen is a suspension of five (5) killed, stained strains (4, 11, 77, 79 and 296) of Salmonella pullorum for use in the whole-blood or serum plate agglutination test for the detection of pullorum disease and fowl typhoid in poultry flocks.
  • Test plate (or comparative flat surface used for testing)
  • Needle or pricking instrument for drawing blood
  • Loop for carrying blood to test surface
  • Banding pliers

Authorized Testers should expect to spend approximately $300 to purchase these supplies. In addition, the national antigen supply varies. The PT Office strongly encourages Authorized Testers to purchase antigen when it is available as supply shortages are a regular occurrence.
