Specimen | Ear notch at least 3 mm in size. For pooling, individual samples must be collected and labeled with individual animal identification. Samples will be pooled at TVMDL. | ||||||
Sampling Requirements | Fresh and dry ear notches are preferred. Do not add transport media. Label all samples. For multiple samples, number tubes consecutively using a permanent marker. Include a list of sample names/numbers or the Excel specimen import spreadsheet with submittal form. Place the tubes in consecutive, numerical order in cardboard boxes designated for tubes. Do not submit loose in bags. | ||||||
Collection Container | Sealed, leak-proof plastic bag or container. | ||||||
Packing Instructions | Label all samples. Ship overnight on cold packs in an insulated container. | ||||||
Special Instructions | Pricing for animals on the same accession is as follows: the first sample is $28.25 each additional sample on the same accession is $3.50. There is a fee of $1.15 per sample to pool specimens. Should a pooled test result in a positive result, each individual sample will be tested by ELISA at $3.50 per sample to determine the positive animal(s). Typical turnaround time is 1-4 days but testing may take longer for confirmation. | ||||||
