25-Hydroxyvitamin D [Referral]

Description

Identification of vitamin D toxicity or deficiency.  This assay will detect metabolites of cholecalciferol (rat poisons, vitamin D supplements); it will not detect toxicity due to calcitriol (Rocaltrol) or calcipotriene (Dovonex – anti-psoriasis cream).

0.5 mL fasting serum

Sampling Requirements

Overnight fasted sample is required. Refrigerate or freeze prior to shipment. Protect from light.

Collection Container

Remove from red cells and place sample in an additive free transport tube.

Packing Instructions

Label all samples. Ship overnight on cold packs.

This test is performed at the Michigan State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (MSUVDL) in Lansing, MI. Prices listed for tests performed outside TVMDL may not include referral lab accession fees and are subject to change without notice. A processing and forwarding fee is added to all referral tests.
