Identification of fungal organisms by PCR and sequencing. This PCR is recommended to complement identification of fungal organisms on histopathology and cytology. The assay is not recommended when fungal organisms are not observed histologically, due to the potential of amplification of non specific contaminants.
Specimen
Paraffin block or curls, 1 H&E slide, and 1 GMS/PAS stained slide.
Measurement of parathyroid hormone (PTH) and ionized calcium.
Used in diagnosis of: calcium metabolic disorders, hypoparathyroidism, hyperparathyroidism (primary or secondary), malignancy, vitamin D disorders, renal disease, hypercalcemia, and hypocalcemia. Also used to monitor calcitriol therapy.
