Identification of parasite eggs, cysts, and oocysts by fecal flotation with centrifugation.
Specimen
3-5 g feces
Detection of fluke eggs in feces by fecal sedimentation.
Referral tests are not performed at TVMDL; a processing and shipping fee will apply.
Identification of uncommon, rare, or unusual endoparasites or ectoparasites based on morphological characteristics.
Individual or multiple parasites. Presence of two or more different parasites may reflect on charges.
Detection of pentobarbital in submitted samples.
10 g liver or stomach content, medication, livestock feed, pet food.
Measurement of phosphorous in ocular fluid, serum, or urine by automated analyzer.
0.5 mL serum, lithium heparin plasma, ocular fluid, or urine
Detection of Salmonella spp. by culture.
One or more of the following:
Measurement of selenium by inductively-coupled plasma/mass spectrometry. A tissue/feed prep fee will be added to tissue and feed specimens.
For birds, 0.6 mL EDTA whole blood is adequate.
Identification of bacterial pathogens that cause septicemia by culture.
Blood inoculated into blood culture media.
Special slide stain as requested by the client.

Measurement of thallium by inductively-coupled plasma/mass spectrometry. A tissue/feed prep fee will be added to tissue and feed specimens.
For birds, 0.30 mL EDTA whole blood is adequate.
