Measurement of metals and minerals by inductively-coupled plasma/mass spectrometry. Targets include manganese, cobalt, copper, iron, molybdenum, selenium, zinc, arsenic, cadmium, lead, and thallium. A tissue/feed prep fee will be added to tissue and feed specimens.
Specimen
One or more of the following*:
Both 0.5 mL EDTA whole blood and 1 mL serum/plasma (both sample types are required)*
For birds, 0.6 mL EDTA or heparinized whole blood is adequate.
*Serum/plasma samples are required for this panel. Whole blood selenium testing may be useful to evaluate chronic selenium status, as concentrations reflect selenium exposure over an extended period. Serum/plasma selenium provides information on real time concentrations only. TVMDL provides reference intervals for both serum/plasma and whole blood selenium for cattle, horses, sheep, birds, and white-tailed deer. For goats, TVMDL has reference intervals for serum/plasma only.
The Dysbiosis Index (DI) is a PCR based assay that quantifies the abundances of 7 bacterial groups and total bacteria and summarizes them into a single number.
