Detection of antibodies to common tick-borne pathogens by indirect fluorescent antibody test. Targets include Ehrlichia canis, Rickettsia rickettsii, and Borrelia burgdorferi. Performed at 1:64, 1:128, 1:256, 1:512, 1:1024, and 1:2048 dilutions.
Detection of tick-borne pathogens by real time PCR. Includes Rickettsiales species (Ehrlichia canis, E. chaffeensis, E. ewingii, Rickettsia rickettsii, Anaplasma phagocytophilum); Borrelia species (B. burgdoreferi, B. hermsii, B. parkeri, B. turicatae); and Babesia species (B. gibsoni, B. canis, B. caballi).
Detection of IgG antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii, the causative agent of toxoplasmosis, by ELISA.
Toxoplasma gondii IgG (ELISA) is the default test for all Toxoplasma gondii testing. Should the ELISA yield a positive result, an IFA will be performed at no additional cost to the client 1:64, 1:128, 1:256, 1:512, 1:1024, and 1:2048 dilutions for canine or feline samples only.
Measurement of trace minerals by inductively-coupled plasma/mass spectrometry. Targets include copper, cobalt, iron, manganese, molybdenum, selenium, and zinc. A tissue/feed prep fee will be added to tissue and feed specimens.
For birds, 0.6 mL EDTA or heparinized whole blood is adequate.
*Serum selenium provides current day levels, while whole blood selenium indicates selenium status over a longer period of time. TVMDL can interpret both serum and whole blood selenium concentrations for cattle, horses, sheep, birds or white-tailed deer. For goats, TVMDL has reference values for serum or plasma only.
Blood, serum, and urine samples are tested on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with a turnaround time of 7 days. Tissue and feed samples are tested on Mondays and Thursdays with a turnaround time of 10 days.
Detection of antibodies to Trypanosoma cruzi, the causative agent of Chagas disease, by indirect fluorescent antibody test. Performed at 1:20, 1:40, 1:80, 1:160, 1:320, 1:640, and 1:1280 dilutions.
