Detection of the Salmonella genus by real time PCR.
Specimen
One or more of the following: 1 g feces, fecal swabs, 1 g fresh intestine, bacterial cultures.
Detection of Salmonella spp. by culture.
One or more of the following:
Measurement of selenium by inductively-coupled plasma/mass spectrometry. A tissue/feed prep fee will be added to tissue and feed specimens.
For birds, 0.6 mL EDTA whole blood is adequate.
Identification of bacterial pathogens that cause septicemia by culture.
Blood inoculated into blood culture media.
Referral tests are not performed at TVMDL; a processing and delivery fee will apply.
Measurement of sodium by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS).

Special slide stain as requested by the client.

Measurement of thyroid hormone T3 (triiodothyronine) by chemiluminescence.
