February 14, 2025

The Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) Board of Regents has recognized Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) Operations Program Director Jordan Brod as a 2023-2024 Regents Fellow Service Award recipient.

The Regents Fellow Service Award Program was established in 1998 to recognize extension, service, and research professionals. Each year, this award is given to individuals who have provided exemplary professional service to society that has created large and lasting benefits to Texas and beyond.

Brod joined TVMDL in College Station in 1999 as a student worker in the histopathology section. Following his graduation in 2000, Brod was promoted to a full-time employee. He expanded on his student worker duties as an entry level technician for two years. In 2002, he was promoted to histopathology laboratory supervisor and in 2005 promoted to serve in a dual role, adding quality assurance and safety duties to his repertoire.

In 2010, Brod transitioned to operations. He served as the agency operations manager until 2021 when he assumed his current role as operations program director. In his role Brod oversees TVMDL’s facilities, information technology (IT), client supply store, biohazard and glassware sterilization, and shipping components. In all facets of his role, Brod ensures the success of others by mitigating potential issues and addressing any that arise despite his preventative measures. His efforts to support IT and shipping are broad, yet critical in serving TVMDL’s employees and clients. Much of his daily tasks revolve within the facilities component. Each day, Brod works through maintenance requests, plans for future projects, and safeguards the efficiency of TVMDL’s laboratories.

Brod is considered a subject matter expert on TVMDL’s laboratory facilities. In his tenure, he has led efforts to construct TVMDL’s 93,000 sq. ft laboratory in College Station and the 22,000 sq. ft. laboratory in Canyon. In addition to these new facilities, Brod regularly leads improvement projects across the agency’s four laboratories.

In the 57 years since TVMDL was established, the agency has experienced countless achievements and milestones. With Brod having served the agency for almost half its existence, he has been instrumental in TVMDL achieving many of those accomplishments.

Brod is the tenth TVMDL professional to earn the distinction of Regents Fellow. Please join TVMDL in congratulating Jordan Brod on this well-deserved recognition.
