Schulz recognized as Director’s Excellence Award recipient

Schulz joined TVMDL in 2020 as a member of the client services section. In her role, she oversees TVMDL’s client support and receiving services. TVMDL’s College Station laboratory receives approximately 60 calls per hour and 600 to 800 samples each day. Schulz ensures clients receive efficient and timely service when calling the lab and that all samples are processed and accessioned quickly.

Schulz is commended for her hands-on management style and willingness to step into any role necessary for success.

“When the workload demands it, Bailey stays late to help in the office and the receiving lab,” Preston Harrell, administrative associate and Schulz’s nominator, said. “She is committed to the goals of TVMDL and to our clients. She has gone above and beyond to make our section one of the best places to work at TVMDL.”

Recently, Schulz is noted for her efforts to prepare her section for an agency-wide audit last summer. Months prior to the audit, she thoroughly reviewed her section’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), evaluated each process to determine the opportunity for improvement, and led section members in training, where necessary. Following the audit, the client services section received high marks from the third-party audit team, much due to Schulz’s dedication to preparation.

In addition, Schulz’s section has recently transitioned to a cloud-based phone system. This transition required a substantial amount of preparation and training to ensure the client service section could quickly and efficiently use the system to assist clients. Schulz led trainings and ensured each section member was confident and comfortable in their ability to use the new system. Schulz’s efforts have allowed her section to transition to this new system without any gaps in service.

“Bailey embodies the TVMDL mission,” Harrell said. “Her dedication and work ethic have been a true inspiration to not only me, but everyone in our organization. She has shown time and time again that she is willing to work hard for our organization and our clients.”
