Kalynn Rodriquez, student worker in the diagnostic services section at the College Station laboratory, is the 2021 recipient of the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) Director’s Excellence Award in the student category.
Kalynn has been a vital part of the client services section for over a year. During her short time with TVMDL, she has made a substantial impact within her section and amongst her coworkers.
“Kalynn has always been kind, supportive and considerate,” Ashley Rodriguez, client services supervisor and nominator, said. “She has impressed me with her willingness to step up to any task with professionalism and thoroughness.”
As a student worker in client services, Kalynn primarily assists in receiving, accessioning, and processing samples, arguably one of the most important TVMDL sections as this is where the testing process begins. Despite the demands that accompany her section, Rodriquez strikes an impressive balance between prioritizing her job and schoolwork. Her commitment to assisting her section is noted among her colleagues.
“I have had the privilege of working with Kalynn in receiving and I am astounded by her work ethic,” Ashley Rodriguez said. “She will jump in with a helping hand and takes on additional responsibility, going beyond what is expected.”
In addition to her typical section duties, Kalynn has been charged with developing a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for accessioning tissue plates; a responsibility that typically falls on full time employees. Her efforts will be used to train future employees on the correct method of handling these specimens.
Please join TVMDL in congratulating this year’s Director’s Excellence Award recipients.
