Rodriguez recognized as 2021 recipient of Director’s Excellence Award

January 10, 2022 by Mallory Pfeifer

Ashley Rodriguez, veterinary laboratory supervisor, is a 2021 recipient of the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) Director’s Excellence Award in the administrative category.

Rodriguez joined the agency in 2020 as a member of the diagnostic services section. Since joining TVMDL, Rodriguez has grown to be an integral part of the agency’s client service efforts. She was initially hired as a customer service associate, but has since been promoted to a supervisory position. In her new role, Rodriguez is tasked with coordinating case accessioning, autoclave and glassware duties, and shipping supplies and specimens. She also oversees the daily operations of the receiving section; one of the busiest sections within the lab as they receive and process over 500 submissions per day.

Among Rodriguez’s typical duties, she is most noted for her recent efforts to oversee the client service sections while the section’s supervisor has been out on maternity leave.

“Ashley is not content until she can find an answer, come up with a solution, or make a recommendation to make things better,” Stephanie Valasek, customer service associate and nominator, said. “Her willingness to step up to assist with supervision and fulfillment of duties when our regular supervisor is away has been an asset to our department.”

In addition to her work ethic, Rodriguez is noted as being kind, supportive, and encouraging to her colleagues and TVMDL’s clients.

Please join TVMDL in congratulating this year’s Director’s Excellence Award recipients.
