TVMDL retiring two equine-specific clinical pathology offerings

February 9, 2021 by Mallory Pfeifer

The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) has retired two equine-specific offerings in the clinical pathology section.

Starting today, TVMDL will no longer offer Coombs Direct & CBC Profile – Equine due to infrequent requests for testing. Clients interested in requesting a similar assay may consider TVMDL’s CBC – Equine (1132)  or Direct Coombs from Cornell University’s Animal Health Diagnostic Center (AHDC).

TVMDL is also retiring Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) due to infrequent test requests. TVMDL continues to offer other enzymes to screen for hepatocellular damage including ALT (1119) for dogs and cats, AST (1121)for most species, and GLDH (1178) for dogs, birds, horses, and cattle. AHDC also offers LDH.

For more information on TVMDL’s clinical pathology test offerings, visit tvmdl.tamu.edu or call the College Station laboratory at 1.888.646.5623.
