The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) annually presents the Director’s Excellence Award to individuals who encompass selfless service to the agency. Each year, TVMDL employees nominate peers they believe exemplify TVMDL’s mission. The 2019 winner in the Technical Category for the College Station laboratory is Hailey Halliburton.
Halliburton is a technician in the analytical chemistry section and has been with the agency since August of 2018. In her nomination packet, she is described as dedicated, respectful, organized, and motivated.
An example of Halliburton’s character and dedication occurred between April and July of this year. During this three-month timespan, Halliburton is noted as having assumed additional responsibilities beyond the scope of her normal job duties to assist her section while the laboratory supervisor was away on maternity leave.
During this time, Halliburton was responsible for purchasing supplies for both laboratories in the analytical chemistry section; a duty she continues to lead. Within this capacity, Halliburton discovered a more cost-effective vendor that will save her section over $1,400 each year.
Throughout her tenure, Halliburton has continued to grow in her competency. She is currently trained to perform 17 different procedures in the drug testing laboratory. Since June, she has processed more than 2,600 racing, 1,400 livestock show, and 2,000 diagnostic samples; a feat that has greatly contributed to her section’s growth and success.
Halliburton has made a tremendous impact within her section and across the laboratory during her year and a half with the agency.
“In my 16 years with TVMDL, I have had the opportunity to observe and supervise many technicians,” Analytical Chemistry Section Head Travis Mays, PhD said. “I can honestly say that Hailey is one of the best employees I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with.”
Please join TVMDL in congratulating Hailey Halliburton and this year’s other Director’s Excellence Award recipients.
