The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory offers an equine-specific drug screen for pre-purchase exams.
The screen assists the veterinarian conducting the pre-purchase exam by identifying certain tranquilizing or NSAID drugs that might be in the animal’s system at the time of examination. A variety of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antipsychotic drugs, and long-acting tranquilizers can be detected.

Turnaround: This test is performed at the College Station laboratory Monday through Friday with results in 1 to 3 business days.
