Dr. Gayman Helman, Amarillo Resident Director, and Dr. Jessie Monday, veterinary diagnostician, recently attended the 2019 Bovine Respiratory Disease Symposium and the summer Academy of Veterinary Consultants (AVC) meetings in Denver, Colorado. The BRD Symposium is held every five years in conjunction with the summer AVC meeting and invites various speakers to provide updates on progress in BRD research and diagnostics.
This year, Dr. Helman led a discussion on the role diagnostic laboratories play in BRD management at the Symposium. Closing out the AVC meeting, Dr. Monday presented on the diagnostic laboratory summary report project. The project, which is a collaborative effort with Dr. Brian Lubbers at Kansas State University, aims to develop a reporting system within the Academy, drawing in other national diagnostic labs in the to provide summary data on bovine disease submissions.
