Each year, the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory’s (TVMDL) Director’s Excellence Award is presented to four employees who epitomize selfless dedication to the agency. TVMDL employees nominate peers they believe exemplify excellence through testing services, quality assurance, technological advances, and overall dedication to TVMDL. The 2017 winner in the Professional Category is Jessie Monday, DVM, MS.
Dr. Monday joined TVMDL in 2016. During her short tenure, she has made several significant strides in bettering the livestock community of the Texas Panhandle. Dr. Monday has represented TVMDL at various conferences and maintains monthly visits to regional clients.
Among her accomplishments, one of the most notable was her development and implementation of a regional livestock professionals group. This group consists of veterinarians, nutritionists, academics, feedyard professionals, consultants, and other members of the livestock community. Through the development of this group, TVMDL has elevated its reputation as a local resource to a regional and statewide source of critical information.
In addition to developing a regional livestock group, Dr. Monday has also taken an active role in spear-heading the Amarillo laboratory’s annual Bovine Respiratory Disease conference. This conference serves as an integral part of educating and communicating with the Panhandle’s livestock community. Through Dr. Monday’s efforts, conference attendance during her first year of employment doubled in size from the previous year. The success of this conference led Dr. Monday to creating a second conference hosted by the Amarillo laboratory.
In her nearly two years of service to TVMDL, Dr. Monday has become a respected member of the regional, statewide, and national veterinary diagnostic communities. TVMDL is proud to employ professionals such as Dr. Monday.
TVMDL employs over 150 professional throughout various veterinary diagnostics roles and capacities. Each employee is dedicated to upholding the mission of protecting animal and human health through diagnostics. Congratulations to all of the 2017 Director’s Excellence Award winners.
