The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory’s (TVMDL) College Station facility hosts monthly case rounds, encouraging staff to give presentations over recent cases. This month, staff presented over Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). TVMDL works with wildlife producers and wildlife/animal health agencies across the country to monitor CWD susceptible cervid species through surveillance testing. TVMDL conducts initial testing, however, if a sample is suspected to be positive it is shipped to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Veterinary Services Laboratory (NVSL) in Ames, Iowa for confirmation. As part of this month’s case rounds, presenters gave an overview of how their sections work with clients and agencies to conduct CWD testing.
