Dr. Gabriel Gomez is a new veterinary pathologist in our College Station laboratory. TVMDL is well known for the strength of its pathology branch and the addition of Dr. Gomez will help TVMDL to maintain that reputation.
Dr. Gomez earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Oklahoma State University in 2005 and received his doctorate in veterinary pathology from Texas A&M in May. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists.
He conducted his residency in anatomic pathology as well as post-doctoral research in the Department of Veterinary Pathobiology at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He also served as a department lecturer.
In addition, he holds bachelor’s degrees in biological sciences and in animal science from Oklahoma State. He interned at Oklahoma State and at Washington State University, and received training in the diagnosis of foreign animal diseases at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Plum Island Animal Disease Center in New York.
As we welcome Dr. Gomez, we say goodbye to Dr. Bruce Abbitt, who recently retired after 35 distinguished years as a pathologist with TVMDL’s College Station lab. While we wish Dr. Abbitt well in this next chapter of his life, we will miss his expertise and dedication.
