This test is used to quantify nitrate levels in non-animal specimens such as hay and fresh forage.
8-15 stalks of fresh forage, or 1 jar filled 3/4 filled with a core hay sample
All samples for nitrate testing should be received at the lab within 24 hours of collection. Core hay samples should be collected from the bale using a probe, immediately placed in a glass and sealed tight.
Fresh forage and rumen/stomach content may be shipped in a leak-proof plastic container or plastic/paper bag. Hay samples must be collected and shipped in a glass jar sealed tightly.
Ensure that samples arrive at the lab within 24 hours of collection.
Do not send roots and/or dirt with fresh forage as this can affect test results. Please contatct the lab if uncertain of shipping and sampling instructions.
