TVMDL compiled diagnostic panels to assist clients in complete diagnostic testing for individual adult cattle that present with diarrhea and/or weight loss. This panel targets the most common infectious causes of diarrhea and weight loss in adult cattle: Johne’s disease, parasites, salmonella, winter dysentery, BLV, and BVD. Susceptibility testing can be requested before or during testing. Quantitative fecal floatation (McMaster’s EPG or Modified Wisconsin EPG) can be added for an additional fee.
The practitioner still has the ability to add or delete tests as desired. Tests included: fecal culture, salmonella serovar typing at NVSL if isolated, qualitative fecal flotation, bovine diarrhea PCR multiplex (bovine coronavirus, bovine rotavirus A, and cryptosporidium by qPCR), Johne’s fecal PCR, BVD antigen capture ELISA (ACE), and bovine leukemia (BLV) ELISA.
