The basic fungal serology panel detects antibodies to Blastomyces, Coccidioides, Histoplasma and Aspergillusby the AGID test and for antigen to Cryptococcus neoformansby agglutination. All techniques can be used for diagnostic purposes. The AGID produces a qualitative positive or negative result for common fungal agents but does not show a rise or decline in antibody level (titer) when paired sera are tested. The Cryptococcus neoformans antigen test with endpoint titer is also useful for monitoring the effect of treatment over time. Also see, comprehensive fungal serology panel test offerings.
