Each year, the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory’s (TVMDL) Director’s Excellence Award is presented to four employees who epitomize selfless dedication to the agency. TVMDL employees nominate peers they believe exemplify excellence through testing services, quality assurance, technological advances, and overall dedication to TVMDL. The 2017 winner in the Student Category is Bailee Ethridge.
Ethridge is a devoted member of the Drug Testing Laboratory. She has taken it upon herself to train and learn the various roles within her section. In her nomination packet, she is praised for not only learning new techniques, but learning the science behind them.
Ethridge has served as a student worker throughout her undergraduate career studying animal science and during her graduate career while studying veterinary epidemiology. Although a full-time student, Ethridge dedicates herself to TVMDL five days week while also being an active member of multiple student organizations, such as the Texas A&M Wildlife Disease Association.
Among Ethridge’s notable accomplishments is the project she spear-headed prior to TVMDL’s move into the new laboratory. Before the move, Ethridge volunteered to take on the challenge of organizing the Drug Testing Lab in the new laboratory. Her attention to detail and knowledge of her section allowed for a seamless transition when the lab fully moved into the new building. Other accomplishments include learning equine hair, feed, and retina extractions all within a few weeks of each other and executing each extraction with precision and confidence.
Ethridge is a model employee. During her time at TVMDL, she has made a positive impact throughout the agency and has contributed to the success of the Drug Testing Laboratory.
TVMDL employs over 150 professional throughout various veterinary diagnostics roles and capacities. Each employee is dedicated to upholding the mission of protecting animal and human health through diagnostics. Congratulations to all of the 2017 Director’s Excellence Award winners.
