Kelly Brathwaite, a scientist from Barbados, recently trained with Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) staff to advance her knowledge of surveillance testing and identification of avian influenza viruses. Dr. Brathwaite is a scientist at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resources Management. Her goal is to use the knowledge gained at TVMDL to implement a testing program in her laboratory in Barbados.
While at TVMDL, Dr. Brathwaite trained in the Molecular Diagnostics section with Pam Ferro, MS, PhD and Megan Schroeder, PhD.
“Working with Dr. Brathwaite has been a pleasure,” Dr. Ferro said. “It is an honor to be able to provide these trainings. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our staff to interact with others from around the world.”
Each year, TVMDL hosts over a dozen visiting scientists from several countries. TVMDL is proud to share diagnostic techniques and knowledge in an effort to benefit the global agriculture industry. To learn more, visit tvmdl.tamu.edu.
