The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) voted at its December 2016 commission meeting to decrease the allowed shipping time of trichomonas samples from veterinarians to the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL). Samples for qPCR must arrive within 96 hours of collection instead of 120 hours; This change is effective January 2, 2017. This rule does not affect samples submitted for culture, which must arrive at the lab within 48 hours of collection.
