Every year, the Director’s Excellence Award is given to four Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) employees that exemplify selfless service to the agency. The TVMDL staff nominates peers they believe to be outstanding individuals, striving to support the laboratory through testing services, quality assurance and technological advances. This year’s recipient in the Administrative Category is Mr. Jordan Brod.
Jordan has had a distinguished career at TVMDL. He joined the agency’s College Station lab in 1999 as a technician in Histopathology, was quickly promoted to Laboratory Supervisor in 2002, and then to Quality Assurance Manager in 2007. When the role of Agency Operations Manager became available, it was a natural fit and he assumed that role in 2010. One of the main functions of this position is maintenance of TVMDL’s four facilities. Maintenance of TVMDL’s facilities is arguably one of the most important jobs at TVMDL. Without properly maintained lab space, the agency would not be able to serve clients with the accuracy and timeliness that is the hallmark of TVMDL.
In addition to his traditional job duties, Jordan has served as the user coordinator for TVMDL’s new laboratory and agency headquarters, a state-of-the-art 93K sq ft, $52M project nearing completion in College Station. This has been no small task; he’s worked daily with TVMDL employees, the architect firm, the construction team, and Texas A&M System officials to ensure the facility was meticulously designed and built to meet our specific needs. He’s executed every task, both big and small, with precision, care and attention to detail. Through the design phase, construction, and soon the daunting task of moving, he has kept a close eye on ensuring the construction, schedule, and budget, are maintained. Jordan is one of the key reasons why the construction process has gone smoothly and he has much to be proud of as we move into the new building in a few short weeks. Jordan’s drive, capability and commitment are unmatched throughout our agency.
TVMDL employs more than 150 professionals that work diligently to uphold the agency’s mission to protect animal and human health through diagnostics. We congratulate all of the 2016 Director’s Excellence Award winners.
