During the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) thousands of visitors from Latin America and Europe visit the show during International Days, an event that works to highlight agriculture practices, facilities and American beef cattle. As part of the tours offered to visitors, the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) hosted 40 guests from Paraguay.
TVMDL Director Bruce L. Akey, MS, DVM, hosted the group. Pathology Assistant Section Head Gabriel Gomez, DVM, PhD, provided an overview of the agency’s veterinary diagnostic services in Spanish.
“The agency conducts routine import and export testing for clients around the world, including Latin America,” said Dr. Akey. “Continued interactions with ranchers, veterinarians and animal health officials from Central and South America allow us to discuss how the agency can provide herd health diagnostics that benefit the global food animal industry.”
Following the briefing, guests received a tour of the laboratory disciplines.
