Terry Dobrovolsky, quality assurance and safety manager at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, has received the 2012 TVMDL Director’s Excellence Award in the administrative category. TVMDL Director Tammy Beckham presented the award during the 2013 Texas A&M AgriLife Conference held Jan. 7-9 in College Station.
A highly skilled auditor and quality assurance professional, Dobrovolsky is largely responsible for the design and implementation of TVMDL’s quality assurance system. This system establishes and monitors the operating procedures that safeguard quality diagnostic results while protecting the health and safety of employees.
During 2011-12, Dobrovolsky successfully guided TVMDL through the complex process of receiving full accreditation from the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians. This is the second time that Dobrovolsky has led the laboratory through the AAVLD’s auditing process. The laboratory received full accreditation for five years after each audit, which included site visits to each of TVMDL’s four laboratories: College Station, Amarillo, Center and Gonzales.
“AAVLD accreditation is a highly coveted distinction among veterinary diagnostic laboratories across the nation,” Dr. Beckham said. “Terry’s expertise and common-sense approach to quality system implementation has helped TVMDL become one of the nation’s leading diagnostic laboratories, and one that customers can rely upon for timely and accurate results.”
Dobrovolsky earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University in 1982. She serves as an AAVLD auditor and holds five certifications in her field. Before joining TVMDL in 2006, she served for six years as a client manager for BSI, Inc., an international business services company headquartered in Reston, Va.
